Our Approach to Research

Our work brings us into contact with people and experiences that raise questions about what it means to be human. We believe these questions are worth careful inquiry.

Lifespan Education seeks to contribute to independent research rather than establish itself as a research institution. We may identify questions, share our practices and observations, facilitate participation, and provide resources to support research.

We recognise that human experiences are complex and that understanding particular persons and relationships can be just as important as identifying broader patterns. We welcome different research approaches that help deepen this understanding.

We respect the independence of researchers, including their freedom to interpret evidence and reach conclusions that challenge our own assumptions. Our participation in research is not intended to validate our work, but to contribute to knowledge that may benefit others.

We walk alongside researchers, participating in the search for understanding without needing to determine what is discovered.

PROJECT: Understanding Human Interaction on Social Media

In 2026, Lifespan Education commissioned an independent evaluation of our Founder’s TikTok community @growingwithleong, conducted by Dr Helen Scott of Grounded Solutions Ltd (UK).

The study uses Grounded Theory methodology to examine how interactions between a social media content creator and viewers develop, and how these interactions contribute to the nature of an online social space.
