Our mission is to walk alongside young people as they are formed through living, and to create opportunities for young people to walk alongside one another.

We are formed through our relationships, experiences and participation in everyday life — through what happens to us, the choices we make, and the people we encounter along the way.

Walking alongside is participating in one another’s formation while recognising that each person’s life remains their own to live.

Sometimes participation means we listen. Sometimes we ask questions or share what we think. We practise things together, encounter difference and disagreement, make mistakes and repair.

As young people grow, they increasingly participate in their own formation: making choices, interpreting their experiences, developing their judgement and taking responsibility for how they live alongside others.

Formation

We walk alongside people as they become, without prescribing or assuming that we can determine who they should become.

Practice

We learn how to live alongside one another by doing it, not only by thinking or talking about it.

Relationship

We pay attention to what happens between people, beyond particular instances or specific outcomes.

Participation

We engage and take an active part in what is happening around us.
